I have 3 full days and nights in Zagreb and would like to spend one day exploring the town. For the other two days, do you think visiting Samobor, Plitvice,
Trakoscan can be done by bus? (I won%26#39;t have a car.) Is this too much for 2 days -- maybe Samobor and Trakoscan in one day? Or are there better ideas for day trips? Any suggestions would be great.

You should definietly go to Plitvice, that%26#39;s one day, and the other you can visit both Samobor and Trakoscan (it could be little bit complicated because you are without a car so you would probably have to go back to Zagreb from one place and then go to another.. Personally, I would skip at least one of those! Samobor is a nice little town next to Zagreb but there is not much to do/see overthere! Trakoscan on the other side is nice but when without a car, it takes more time to get there..
I don%26#39;t know if this was helpful, but at least you have some extra info now :)

I found this site about Zagreb and excursions:

very helpful. thanks. Maybe I%26#39;ll skip Samobor then. But do you have any opinion on Varazdin instead of Trakoscan? Maybe easier to get to?

Samobor would be more interesting during Carnival time.
Depends what you like( someone on this forum declared to have been dissapointed even by Trogir recently.)
In Varaždin there is, acc. to my personal opinion, more to be seen-castle, baroque palaces.
Maybe you can do both, Varaždin and Tralošćan in one excursion.

Yes, if you want your day to be full of activities, then go to Varazdin and Trakoscan on same day..That%26#39;s pretty close so you are not supposed to have problems with transportation..

thanks. Varazdin seems like it would be easier to do by bus than Trakoscan. And lots more to do. so I think I%26#39;ll do that for a day and on another day where I have some time in the late afternoon, maybe take a bux to samobor.
Thanks for all the advice.
