Has anyone been to the island of Vis? I am looking to spend a week there in mid-September. Can anyone suggest any hotels/apartments? Thanks in advance.

I went in September 2006 and it was a real highlight of my Croatian trip. We stayed in Komiza on the other side of the island, a mixture of relaxed and sophisticated. We used a tourist agency called something like Dalic %26amp; Dalic (which was obviously hilarious as it sounded like Daleks!) Visit the Blue Cave. We also saw dolphins on a boat trip from Komiza. The ferry ride over is idyllic as well.

thanks for that. do you know if there are ferries from vis to brac in mid-sept? i am thinking of pit-stopping for a few nights in bol, brac on my way back from vis to split. thanks in advance

No ferries to Brac, you%26#39;d have to pass through Split.
But you MIGHT be able to get direct to Hvar. Check jadrolinija website.
I rented from adria-island.org/en/…vis

Has anyone stayed in one of the Villa Nonna apartments? Are they in a good location? I want to be near good beaches. Any help greatly appreciated.

If you are going to ask about a specific apartment, it helps to post the link and specific location.
All the best beaches on Vis are driving (or scooter rental) distance from Vis or Komiza though.

Has anyone stayed here?

Cheers in advance.

Hotel Paula in Vis is ok. Vis is a fantastic island and no matter how long you stay there, you will always say it was too short.

Has anyone been to/stayed in Komiza? Does it have a few nice places to eat or is it very sleepy (mid-sept)? Are the nearby beaces nice? Thanks in advance
|||
The Villa you posted looks really nice. I%26#39;d take it based on the pics.
Both Komiza and Vis will be sleepy in mid-Sept. I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll go wrong in either, but I liked Vis town myself. Komiza had a tiny promenade with a few restaurants.
As I said before, in either place you will want to rent transport of some sort (bike, car, scooter, or boat) to get to better beaches. Both have so-so beaches within walking distance, but it is a waste to go there when truly amazing beaches can be reached.

Thanks Meander. Will defo rent a scooter. Are there any beaches you particularly suggest checking out? Any other tips for things to do on Vis greatly appreciated.
