Trip to Venice and sea sickness!

Seen as my last post was answered so quickly thought I would try another question.

My boyfriend really wants to do the Venice day trip and so do I but I do suffer with the odd bouts of sea sickness. Normally seems to depend on the boat - the smaller it is, the worse the sickness.

Is it correct the trip is about 2 1/2 hours by boat?

Is it a large ferry or smaller boat?

I have tried different remedies but still looking for one that works for me! For those that suffer sea sickness know it can really spoil your holiday!

Hiya

Just come back from Porec and a two week break.

We did the day trip to venice, booked via our Thomson rep, and you should be ok. There are two hydrofoils that run out of Porec both very large taking around 300-350. They are laid out airline style - we and some Dutch were in the front as the guide spoke English while the Germans were in the back.

The hydrofoil rises up around 10 degrees at full speed, around 28 knots. There were no major problems on our trip out although if you want to get a %26#39;view%26#39; then try for a window seat.

Of the two companies one run by Venice lines, I think, allows passengers to go on deck but I don%26#39;t know when during th trip. We had the option of going up into a saloon which has an open deck feel although you pay extra on board and its a tight squeeze.

Time out was around 8.30am in the morning arriving around 11.15 ish. Note the boat has to slow right down for the last half hour as it enters the Venice lagoon.

There are a couple of chemists in Porec should you wish to try medication - although all of us including two children were fine on the out and return journey.

Useful tip in vencie - take the ferry once you%26#39;ve docked to st marks square. It cuts off around an hour%26#39;s walk which when you are there for a day if a real time saver.
