We have 3 weeks holiday and have decided maybe to fly to Dubrovnik from Gatwick.(flights from Gatwick seem pricey)then onto Montenegro for a week, Hvar for a week and back to Dubrovnik for a week. Does this seem a good itinerary, as any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Any ideas on accommodation, also would it be a good idea to hire a car for the 3 weeks, can you take it on Hvar easily. We are thinking to end up in Dubrovnik as the town may be warmer than an island in late september. Is it easy enough to drive around to various places.
Thanks

A fair bit of replication in all this.....why not into Dubrov (5 days enough )
Montenegro...5 days
drive up past Split 1 nite take car to starigrad and stay in Hvar 4 days
drive up to rovinj and get back via Pula or venice

We have booked with British Airways From Gatwich to Dubrovnik return, and it was not cheap. £400 each person!

We are flying into and out of Dubrovnik as that was the best flight we could get. We thought it might be best to do Dubrovnik on the way back. We are not sure of the best route at the moment. We still fancy Montenegro and Hvar but not sure where else. We only really want to stop off at 3 places, at the most 4. Thanks for your suggestions.

Ok try going up to hvar(or back) via ferry as this will give another angle..... and the best thing is the no worries about the zero alcohol problem

Hi Scrumpy,
I%26#39;m flying into Dubrovnik last week of September for 7 nights and hoping to hire car to visit Kotor, Hvar %26amp; Split.
I was thinking of staying in Dubrovnik for a couple of days and traveling to Kotor and back in the day.
Then travelling upto Split to spend couple of nights before returning to Dubrovnik.
Planning to visit Hvar for day from Split.
Is the above possible ?
Suggests greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

As for the temperature Hvar and Dubrovnik are cca the same.
You may drive with up to 0,5 promille for normal traffic control, but if there is an accident , then it is punishable-strange, but so it is acc. to the latest amendment of low since 01.Jun.
Two persons with a normal car on ferry Split -Stari Grad cost about 50EUR-one direction.

Have some gide maps and having a week touring Croatia and a week in Montenegro with hire car - any advice on places not in the tour books would be appreciated !

How about doing Dubrovnik, ferry it to Korcula, stay a night or so. Ferry it to Hvar stay 4 days then back to Dubrovnik. Or if you have time split also. Then back to Dubrovnik. I%26#39;m doing this from Split. Hvar, Korcula then on to Dubrovnik. What do you think ? Linda
