Katarina Line Cruise Highly Recommend

Hi everyone, As I found it hard to get any info about the Katarina Line before we left I want to give you info about our wonderful week aboard a vintage yacht. We are in our early 50%26#39;s We took the KL2 Route from Split to Dubrovnik return on The Labrador in an A Class cabin above deck. There is also B Catergory below deck which is cheaper. There were 32 of us and ranged in ages. They cater for all ages and tend to have party boats for the younger passengers. The cabins are small but have everything and have comfortable beds. The meals were great. They supply breakfast and a three course lunch. I am a coelliac and the cook was great and went out of his way to suit my diet.We had a stop every afternoon from the boat. We stopped at some beautiful islands. The staff were fantastic and we didnt hesitate to pay the gratuities. Coffee and tea are included with breakfast but other drinks including water are extra so you need to budget for that.We anchored at the ports late in the afternoon so we could look around and have dinner. We found Katarina Line so helpful regarding getting there and from there. We booked our ferry from Ancona through them. They were quick to answer my emails. A top company.

Hi all,

We also did a cruise on Katarina Line in June 2008, departing Dubrovnik. Unfortunately there were some major issues on the trip which really ruined our entire experience. We are currently waiting for them to respond to and hopefully address our issues. Will keep you informed as to whether they continue to brush us off or actually deal with us.

I%26#39;m a bit stunned that they charged for water given that you were a captive audience and I am assuming it was pretty hot. Did you have fridges in your rooms so that you could get it elsewhere and keep it for use?

Hi Jude C, No we didnt have a fridge in cabin. We did buy large bottles of water each day on shore for half the price. It was very hot and we went through so much water. We travelled with another couple and had turns at buying the large bottles at lunch.

Actually, if you read the rates pages on the Katarina Line website, they offer a drink supplement option for a weekly rate of 16 euros - would this not also cover water? I also understand that it is normal for all cruise lines, big or small, to charge for water and other drinks (except for the high-end cruises).

Holiday, without going into details that you may not want to discuss at this time, what was your biggest beef related to?

Kiwi, thanks for posting this. I will be doing the KL2 in October (2 couples as well). Any recommendations/tips that you can pass along please? They would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, just so that you are aware, there are notes about the Katarina Line trips on other tripadvisor forums such as %26#39;Dubrovnik forum: A week in Dubrovnik or Katarina Cruise around the islands?%26#39; (these contain some positive reviews and some very negative ones with tips on Page 2). I certainly wish i had seen them before booking our trip.

We travelled with Katerina Line last year (KL3) and had a fantastic trip.

I am really surprised that people have an issue with paying for bottled water. I have yet to go in a restuarant or supermarket where they give it away for free!

At the start of our cruise we were asked not to purchase drinks ashore and then bring them aboard - although everyone did buy water ashore and this was accepted. The boat owners and crew make very little money from Katerina Line and rely heavily on the bar takings to make a living. As one poster said it is a captive audience and they could have hiked the bar prices...however we found the bar prices on board to be cheaper than ashore.

We had a wide range of ages and nationalities on our cruise and we generally all met up for a late evening drink (or 2) on board.
