Dubrovnik + ?

I am thinking of going to Croatia at the end of July / August. ideally i would like to spend some time in Dubrovnik = somewhere else but am confused about where to go. there will be 2 of us and we will probably have a car for at least some of the time. I like some sitting around plus looking at interesting things.

With the info you gave, I would say spend the remainder of your time in Cavtat, which is pretty close to Dubrovnik, or go out to one of the islands-- Korcula, Hvar or Mljet.

why not head to montenegro - the scenery is breathtaking and it is also a lovely place to go - kotor is amazing.

If you are renting a car...a nice drive is up to Orebic where you can jump on a 15min ferry over to Korcula.

The drive is very scenic and you can stop to do wine tasting as well as a stop in Ston. We drove up and stayed in a cheap place in Orebic and took the ferry back and forth to Korcula.

Montevideo is also nice, however, we took a bus tour down there so I can%26#39;t give much advice on that.

Janet: I think you mean Montenegro. Montevideo is a long way a way - another Conitinent away.

I second heading to Montenegro. We did that as a day-trip from Dubrovnik and should have stayed for longer.

Bay of kotor fantastic to drive around or you can take the short ferry crossing,Mostar worth going to but probably best done on a coach trip
