A week in Coatia travelling north by car?

We are crossing from Italy to Split by overnight ferry in mid september then have a week to travel north in lease car prior to going back into northern italy. Have read the guides all looks great. Too much choice! What are the %26quot;must sees%26quot; that would work when travelling by car and orgainising accomodation on the way. Interested in beachs, sea, scenary %26amp; sights and not neccesarily the big cities unless they are worthy of visiting. Any suggestions greatfully accepted.

Stop at Split for a few hours than along the coast line you may like Trogir,National Park Krka,Zadar,Pag island (than ferry back to curvy coastal road).Keep on going literarly littoral or before Rijeka, bridge over to Krk island and ferry to Cres island.from there back to E Istria down to Pula and Brijuni National park.Further N stop at Rovinj,Porec and Piran.

Somewhere between Zadar %26amp; Krk island you can divert to Plitvice National Park.

Browse further details of those places than dump what does not tickle your fancy.

Mid September is off season but with most of the business running.Plenty of bed signs along the way or let the local tourist office (or pub if after hours) finds you accommodation.Average flat for four should go for around 60euros per day.

Thanks for the hints. Gives a good basis to start from.

Split is a big town that you might want to spend a few hours in, wandering around Diocletian%26#39;s Palace before heading out. Maybe a night in Trogir would be a good option after leaving Split? Or maybe you could go out to Brac or Hvar after arriving in Split? Other places along the way up the coast worth seeing would be Krka Falls, Zadar, Plitvice and then maybe spend the remainder or your time in Istria-- go to Pula, Rovinj, Porec, etc.

Barry and Kefa,

You forgot Senj. Whenever passing by , if I have time, I go to see the fortress.

You are very right Jelsa. I also like to go up into Nehaj Castle to take in the great views!
