My husband and I will be in Croatia in mid September and we would like part of our trip to include island hopping along the Dalmatian Islands on our way to Dubrovnik. We only have 3 full days to accomplish this particular phase of the trip and I would like some advice on which are the MUST see islands to spend some time on and what to do there. We want to do one island on each day.
From earlier posts I%26#39;ve read, I understand Hvar and Korcula are beautiful but what is there to do there exactly? Are there any activities you recommend? Small towns to visit? We don%26#39;t have any transportation so we%26#39;re thinking of renting scooters and exploring each island that way.
Any suggestions you have are much appreciated. Any information on the best way to get from one island to the other is also appreciated.
Thanks!

dear voronita,
there are lots of things to do on hvar island but it depends of what type of person you are...
to rent a scooter is a good idea, in that way you can see all island in one day.
if you are starting from hvar town take the old road to stari grad, you will pass through the village of brusje, near village of grablje and through village of selca. in this part of the year unfortunately you would not be able to see lavanda fields. stop at vidikovac, the place from where you can enjoy the nice view at stari grad bay. in stari grad you have to visit dominican monastery and its museum, tvrdalj, old streets and palaces. afrter stari grad go to vrboska beautiful small village at the sea with lots of small bridges and church-fortress, after vrboska take the road by the sea to jelsa. if you want you can go to village of humac which is approx 8-10 km from jelsa. to go back to hvar town take the road through the villages pitve, vrisnik, svirce, vrbanj, dol... or if you will have enough time you can visit the south coast passing the tunnel from pitve to zavala. on south side of the island you have nice wineyards. visit sveta nedija and taste some of local wines...
one more thing: visit bay of dubovica
also, you can hire a boat or take the taxi boat to the small islands in front of hvar town.
from hvar town you can take the one day trip to blue and green cave and visit island of vis (town of komiza). you can sail with www.hvaradventure.com or go kayaking. the nice way to sea the island (but harder ;)) is to rent a bike and see all i wrote before. there are also nice paths if you like to hike...
in hvar town you have to visit the castel, benedictin monastery, franciscan monastery with its museums, old part of the town with patrician palaces, arsenal....
if you have any question do not hesitage to send me a private message as i do not check this forum every day.
best regards
