Hiring a car/Public Transport

Hi staying for 9 days in Pula end of sept,was trying to decide wether to hire a car,or is there a good public transport system.Hoping to visit most of the tourist places and just general sight seeing,if we decide to get a car ,can anybody suggest a good car hire company. Thanks

hertz , avis just to name few , smallest cars like fiat punto are around 300kuna/day .

hertz office is in hotel histria , nearby hotel palma you also have a company called vetura - might be a few kunas cheaper :)

avis is down town pula harbor .

There are good bus services from Pula to the main coastal towns e.g. Fazana, Rovinj, Porec etc but to visit the lovely hill towns in the interior you would need a car. For car hire I would recommend National Car (a Croatian company)based at Pula airport - much cheaper than Herz and the international car hire firms. We have used this Company for the last 3/4 years and been more than happy with them. www.nationalcar.hr and info@nationalcar.hr The staff speak excellent Eglish. I found that telephoning them direct on the Croatian Number was better than booking on the website (the agent has to get his cut). Can only speak from my own experience, and we%26#39;ve always got a much better deal than any of the international companies we%26#39;ve dealt with.

there are plenty of companies where you can negotiate the price . hertz and avis used to be expensive , but they have now lowered their prices even below low budget rentals to stay competitive .
