Hi. I%26#39;ll be as brief as possible.Husband and I late 30%26#39;s hols for 2 weeks starting Saturday 30th August. Was going to book flight either to Pula from Gatwick or Split from B%26#39;ham.Want to get feel 4 real Croatia, travel to some islands sightsee, etc. Is the driving ok,do you think we%26#39;ll be able to sort accomodation this late and any ideas for itinerary- is north better than south?
Cheers

There are always people who meet ferries and buses with accommodation. Driving is OK - roads are good, keep your headlights on. Stay on the coast and you will have no problems. I%26#39;d recommend Split, but I don%26#39;t know the north. Drive up to the national parks and down to Dubrovnik as well. Don%26#39;t miss Trogir. Pula will be great as well I%26#39;m sure.

I also think that you will always be able to find some accommodations. I think maybe the advice to fly into Split is good advice. You can get out to the islands from there and I also think it would be a good idea to head to Dubrovnik. For the islands look into Brac, Hvar, Vis and Korcula.

I can only say that Barry and I are singing from the same songsheet! I would also say that if you arrive in Split and visit the islands it might be worth delaying car hire until you return as cars are not cheap to take on the ferries. Or, hire a car, go north for a bit, then return it when you want to go to the islands. If you do Dubrovnik then the buses are good and the ferry there is great (but takes all day).

Hi Angie. My boyfriend and I (28 and 30) just came back last night after 2 weeks in Croata and although we had booked accommodation in advance, there were people meeting every ferry with offers of reasonably priced accommodation. We flew into Split and out of Dubrovnik, visiting Vis, Hvar, Korcula and Mljet on the way down the coast. This can all be very easily done by ferry/catamaran so for once we didn%26#39;t hire a car and it all worked out brilliantly. We had a fabulous time, though Vis (staying in Komiza) and Mljet were definitely the highlights, both feeling more %26#39;real%26#39; and less familiar to us than the other locations visited. Can%26#39;t advise on the North, but would definitely recommend the route we did to anybody! Have a fab timne, I%26#39;m very jealous as we really did have an amazing time!
