My wife and I are planning a trip to Croatia in September and were debating whether to go to Hvar or Makarska. We%26#39;re not really party goers but would rather do some outdoor activities, in particular hiking and white water rafting. We have two nights available for either of these places.
Any advice would be helpful.
Cheers.

Hi,
stay in Split, so you can go one day to Omis and canyon of river Cetina for rating, and other day take a ferry or cat to visit Hvar. Split - Omiš takes 30min by bus.

That%26#39;s good advice as well. We will have a car, which would make things a bit easier. Do you know how frequent the car ferry is between Split and Hvar?

Split - Stari Grad (Island of Hvar, then 15km to Hvar):1:30am, 5:00am, 8:30am, 11:00am, 2:30pm, 5:00pm, 8:30pm. Stari Grad - Split: 5:30am, 8:00am, 11:30am, 2:00pm, 6:00pm, 8:00pm, 11:00pm. Valid till the 29th of September.

If you combine Omiš or/and Makarska with Hvar you could on the way from/to Hvar take the ferry in Drvenik to the Sućuraj on the opposite side of island Hvar (very frequent ferry , takes cca 30min or less) and then drive over the whole island to Hvar town.
