places to eat in brgonigla

we are staying at the san rocco and understand that they have a great restaurant. I am a chef and like to eat at small eateries and have local food. i read that there is a pizzeria, in town, but are there any places to eat close to town? I live in a town with great resturants and we go traveling to eat locally...thanks

You could try Konoba Astarea www.konobar-astarea-brtonigla.com or just google Konoba Astarea.

Haven%26#39;t eaten there myself but it seems to get good reports.

There are 3/4 restaurants in Brtonigla - Istarska in the centre our favourite due to the simple but delicious steak and fish dishes. Astarea appears in many recommended listings and the restaurant is full of ambience - however over the years we have been visiting we have felt the owner has become greedier with his prices and he definitely checks the accent before deciding how much to charge you - we have therefore stopped going

The Pizzeria offers great pizza - large portions and v low cost Also may villages around with recommended konobas - the tourist office in Brtonigla will give you the Istrian Gourmet Guide - enjoy!

BTW the food in SR is wonderful - they have had issues with slow service over the years for some reason but I think this is usually out of season
