Scooter or buggy hire on Vis?

Hello, does anyone know if you can hire a scooter or a buggy on Vis? I would definitely prefer a buggy (like a scooter but with 4 wheels!) if they are available. Many thanks, Nicola

I am also interested to know if it is possible to rent a scooter on Vis. I am arriving by boat from Split to Vis Town but will then need to get to Komiza as I am staying there.

There are scooters and bicycles for rent, but don%26#39;t know for quads(that%26#39;s the %26quot;Croatian%26quot; word).

Hey Jelsa, that%26#39;s very helpful thanks! Are there quads for hire on Hvar? And would you know roughly how much? Thanks again

We were on Vis in June. We didn%26#39;t end up renting anything but we did look into it. There were at least 3 places right in town to rent vehicles and scooters from. We saw cars, scooters, convertible bugs maybe a jeep, but I don%26#39;t remember seeing any quads for rent at any of the places.

Hi there - can you explain what convertible bugs are please? They sound like they could be abit better/safer than a scooter?

Just wondering because my partner does not like scooters so we are unable to hire one, but we can%26#39;t hire a car either! A %26#39;convertible bug%26#39; sounds like a good halfway house. T

From our experience in June, there are plenty of scooters available for rent when you disembark in Vis Town. I do remember seeing some quads, but I dont know if they sat one or two people. I also remember one shop having a small car for rent as well.

I will try to look in my scrapbook to see if I saved a receipt from the copmany we used, but I woudl think you will be able to find what you need. Great choice staying on Vis--it is a perfect island.

I ran into this site while looking for something else and remembered your post, here it is:

A convertible bug is just a volkswagen bug with no top :)

NicsV:

If you cannot rent a car, and want to avoid the risk of a scooter, maybe you will be able to rent a small boat if you have experience there (not certain if those are on offer on Vis, they were on Hvar).

The other alternative, if you are quite fit, is to rent bicycles.

If you are uncomfortable on a scooter, then it is probably wise to risk it. Other than the mountain roads being curvy, the only risk is operator error, as the traffic is quiet light. If you go for it, just make sure they have helmets that fit well.

I agree with meander. We were a little nervous about scooters, but we basically had the roads to ourselves. There is so little car traffic that it really is like riding a bike in a parking lot!
