We are going to Croatia for 2 weeks in September ,
can anyone advise how long we need to stay in Trogir
to do it justice? has anyone caught the ferry over to Italy is it very expensive? how long is the boat trip?
Thanks

Trogir is a lovely little place, small enough to be seen in one day. However, you should try to be there at least one night to capture the atmosphere which is best in the evening. Beware it will be very touristy and crowded! If you know that and expect it in advance you%26#39;ll be ok. I personally love Trogir and find it charming. Last time we spent three nights there and did a few day trips (we were renting a car, though).

I agree with the previous post not a lot to see but we loved staying there for 3 nights, one of my favourite pastimes was watching the big yachts and ships coming in, oh how the other half live.

Agreed on all above. We stayed for 3 nights, but used it as a jumping off point for other visits. It is a great town, and you will want to devote one day and night to it in itself. But that is all you will need. However, if you are considering spending time in Split, Krka, or other places on that part of the coast, Trogir is a great place to stay. In that case you may want to stay for longer than just one night.
Sorry, I cannot help with the ferry question.

You can get the answers to your ferry to Italy questions on www.jadrolinija.hr Looks like the ferry from Split to Ancona would be about ten hours. I think you can check prices on there too.

Thanks everyone for your advice I am new to this forum but how useful it is! We have booked four nights in Trogir sounds like too long for Trogir from the replies! but will use it as a base for visiting Split %26amp; surrounding area. Any suggestions?ideas welcomed .
Ferry looks awesome will definately check that one out .

One day in Split. One day to one of the islands via Split (I recommend Vis-- it is a long ferry ride, and makes for a long day, but well worth it, it is a gorgeous island. We left Trogir by 7:30 a.m. and got back around 9 p.m.) And people seem to rave about Krka Park, but I havent been, so I recommend only based on other peoples reviews.

You could also look into day trips to Hvar or Brac from Split too.

Krka is good but I went in April when it was absolutely storming with water. Only 1 1/2 hours drive from Trogir though.
If you want some beach take the 44 bus over to Ciovo, getting out along the Saldun beach.
Day trip to Hvar Town or to Bol ib Brac, both from Split.

Lots of good ideas thank you . Does anyone know how long the ferry takes from Trogir to Split %26amp; where do you catch the boat?

I thought I had read that a ferry from Torgir to Split only went once a week. But trulyI dont know much about it. I took the bus which you catch right across the bridge in Trogir and drops you off right near the Palace in Split. It took about a half hour and was very easy.
