Has anyone stayed in Apartment Bete in the old town? We wanted to stay in Silva but as it%26#39;s booked out we%26#39;re looking at Bete as an alternative. It%26#39;s owned by the same people and I%26#39;ve read good reports about Silva on here.
Thanks.

I haven%26#39;t stayed there but I looked into it recently. I decided against it because it is very close to Stradun and it sounds like it would be quite noisy at night. I guess it depends on what you want. Have you looked at Apartment Tina? It%26#39;s also owned by the same people and seems to be in a much quieter area.
Thats all the advice I can give you I%26#39;m afraid!

We looked at Tina but that%26#39;s booked out as well.
How noisy is Stradun? Would earplugs make it bearable or is it so bad we won%26#39;t get any sleep?!

Sorry Puffin, I haven been yet, I%26#39;m only going in a few weeks time. But I did a lot of searching before I booked and it seems that the area around Stradun and its side streets are very noisy til late into the night. Thats where most of the restaurants and bars seem to be.
Also, many of the reports for apartments away from Stradun said that the worst noise was from holiday-makers in neighbouring apartments, which is a bit worrying. I guess thats a risk no matter where you go but I noticed a lot of complaints like this for the Old Town. Whether that is because of the buildings themselves or the type of people who go there, I dont know.

Thanks for your advice MsJelly, it does sounds like it would be better to stay a bit further out.

Or sleep through the day and join in the revelries at night!

you must remember that Dubrovnik is not a %26quot;party town%26quot; so if you think the noise will be from revellers shouting etc, you are wrong. . Its very laid back - most people just go for dinner and drinks. , It is absolutely not rowdy and if you think it will be %26quot;loud and noisey%26quot; like a typical UK main street or outside supermacs in galway at 2 a.m. in the morning you could not be further from the truth.
Dubrovnik is not geared for young party heads - its more of a classy atmosphere. I would not be worried AT ALL about above average noises coming from Stradun.

That is true whales, but I%26#39;m sure there will be groups of people chatting outside the bars %26amp; restaurants, and any sort of %26quot;group%26quot; noise can be annoying for many people, including me! I%26#39;ve no problem with traffic and street noise, but bursts of chat and laughter usually will interrupt my sleep. I chose outside the city walls mainly for that reason.
Now I just have to hope we won%26#39;t have noisy neighbours - I%26#39;ve lived in enough apartments to know that they don%26#39;t have to be partying to make a lot of noise!

oh right - i thought you may have thought it was rowdy like ibiza or other places like that - its a million miles away from that and I would not not stay inside the walls on the offchance you can hear people talking on the street, because you can get that anywhere, even from the room next door LOL
