Hi everyone,
I%26#39;m very new to all this but I saw this web site and it looked great for some expert and experienced advice. Please if possible, could you help me out!
Ok. I%26#39;m 18 years old from Australia and I%26#39;m travelling to Croatia this year in October by myself. I fly into Venice on the 15th of October, and the day after (16th) I will take the bus FILS from Venice to Pula, where I will stay for about 2 weeks, at %26quot;Villa Brioni%26quot;, in Fazana.
I am looking for recommendations of some things that would take up my 2 weeks time in Pula so I can enjoy it to the fullest, as much as possible. If you could provide all relevant details of your recommendations so I can chase up what it is you have told me. I have always loved Croatia since my early teens, so this is like a dream come true! It%26#39;s becoming to be so close!
Also on some days I would like to branch off and visit other cities in Croatia such as Zagreb, and maybe even Bosnia and also Slovenia for a day. But nothing longer than a day as I have my accommodation in Pula already booked! Please provide some help for me on how to reach these places I have stated above. Is there buses that run to Bosnia, Zagreb, Slovenia etc from Pula?
For my last week and a half of travel (November 2 until November 12) I will spend November 2 until 4 in Venice, then on the 4th I will depart Venice on a one week cruise with Costa Cruises %26quot;Costa Serena%26quot; Liner for a sail all around Turkey, Greece, South Italy, and Dubrovnik... I can%26#39;t wait!
Thank you for reading my very long first post and I hope I can gain some valuable advice from you all.

Hi Trent,
I%26#39;m inclined to agree with Split1111 that maybe you should consider being a bit less fixed in one place but if its all booked and paid for there it is. That said, maybe you should be prepared to sacrifice a couple of nights pre-paid lodging in return for exploring somewhere beyond day-trip distance e.g. Krk or Cres. Just a thought.

October is not really in the tourist season outside the larger tourist areas. Fazana which was a fishing town/village has now become part of the commuter belt for Pula. You may find Fazana very quiet at that time of year unless you have access to a car. During the day there will be no problem with local buses going into Pula but I don%26#39;t know what the situation will be in the evening. One thing that springs to mind is going over to the Brijuni Island for a day. Brijuni was Tito%26#39;s summer residence where he hosted international heads of state and celebrities and was closed to the public until his death in the 80%26#39;s. These days visitors can stay on the island in one of two hotels or pay for a day%26#39;s excursion (around £18). It%26#39;s an idyllic place and a National Park. There%26#39;s no cars or shops but you can hire a bycycle for £8 per day and see the wonders of the place, not to mention the numerous Roman antiquities. The Briljuni booking office is down by the harbour. Having said that I don%26#39;t know whether the (15 minute) ferries will be running at that time of year. It depends on whether the hotels are still taking guests.
You%26#39;re way too far away for a day trip to Bosnia, and I suspect to Zagreb. If you have to stay in Fazana for 2 whole weeks I would look into what excursions you can take within Istria and maybe Slovenia. Go to the Fazana Tourist Office to see what%26#39;s on offer. The interior of Istria is beautiful, dotted with fortified hill towns but you would need a car. Otherwise I would look to Pula, Rovinj and Porec if you want some %26#39;life%26#39;. I have one recommendation for a restaurant in Fazana which the locals, and us tourists in %26#39;the know%26#39; use, and that%26#39;s The Ferral just on the square by the harbour. My husband and I stay on Brijuni every year and eat at the Ferral whenever we can. The Plava is also OK, especially to sit outside and wait for the ferry to transport us back to that little bit of Heaven on Earth - Brijuni.
I do hope your plans work out, but given that you%26#39;ve booked for 2 weeks in Fazana do be aware that it%26#39;s a little backwater.

I understand the feedback given.
Firstly, thank you for your advice. I was thinking that 2 weeks may be a little too much time in Fazana/Pula, however, I have only just finished school and only have a small job at the moment until next year when I start University, so my funds are limited for this trip.
Of course I would love to visit the whole of Croatia - but I know for a fact my budget is very strict so I won%26#39;t have time for the extreme luxuries that older people get with their higher paying jobs. It%26#39;s unfortunate but I have been thinking about it and I hope maybe I could stay somewhere else in Croatia for three days/nights in the middle of the 2 weeks, to get away from Fazana, just to break it up, and so it feels like I am not being stuck there! I guess I will have to sacrifice the monies for these 3 nights in Fazana while I will be somewhere else. Anybody have any ideas where I could stay that is easily accessible to Pula by bus? Also, do you tend to agree with this idea of staying 3 nights elsewhere like Zagreb for example?
Maybe the hotel manager in Fazana will allow me to go for 3 nights without any payment, even though I have already booked it.. Do you think so?
Thanks again for your assistance, please keep your ideas coming!

Hello,
I saw your post about the cruise... I am getting ready to go on the exact same cruise trip from Venice through Greece, Turkey and back (some time in November as well). What would you suggest / comment about the ship as well as all the stops? Seems like a pretty packed schedule, plus given the time of the year I am worried about the weather.
If you could reply to o.deme@yahoo.com would really really appreciate it!
