By the looks of things the only way of getting to Zadar is by either plane or Bus.
What sort of journey is the bus trip, is it comfortable and are there many stops.
Thanks

The only way to go is by Bus and they are excellent so much so that after going Split to Dubrov we decided to return dubrov/Trogir then trogir/Rovinj.....then headed into Slovenia.
Just get organised to sit on the left hand side as near to the front as possible so go in as early as possible to the bus station at Lapad and get set.
We are into plenty of red wine and cheeses and the bus stops frequently..... i use to also grab a coldie or two.
we were away 11 weeks on our last trip and never bothered to hire a car.....mind you zero alcohol in Croatia and the thought of perhaps the polizia kept me away from hiring.

The buses are fine. I have done Split to Dubrovnik with no stops except at the Bosnian border (4 hours) and Dubrovnik to Trogir then back again to Dubrovnik with quite a few stops (5.5 hours), going into towns such as Ploče and Mavarstica. However, this was out of season. I would go to the bus station in Dubrovnik at Gruz and talk to the Information people there who are very good. However, if you have the time (it takes all day), I would recommend getting the ferry up the coast from Dub to Split then getting a bus

There are two types of transiting as one bus is %26#39;express%26#39; so to speak with two-ish stops and the other is like a regionale which does stop at whim......but there is only 40 mins different and the ride is so good you do not worry.

Thanks for the replies. Would a bus to Split ( or somewhere else ) and a train onto Zadar be an option. From looking at the web, the train journey seems to take a while as well.
