from cavtat to dubrovnik

we will be in cavtat in august for 3 days with our 3 year old son. What is the most convenient way to go dubrovnik from cavtat: we will have a car. How long does it take with car and is the road between cavtat and dubrovnik is dangerous also we heard that parking may be a hassle in Dubrovnik so is taking a boat a better choice. How long does it take and what will be the cost.

We spent a week in Croatia last October, half in Dubrovnik and half in Cavtat.

Even in October we found the bus service between the two towns very reliable, frequent and cheap (approx.3 euro each for a single trip). The journey took about 20-25mins.

I would think that driving on this road would be quite scary and, yes, Dubrovnik is notorious for having very few parking spaces.

Alternativeluy, the boat trip may be more enjoyable - I%26#39;m not sure about the time for the journey or the cost but I remember seeing the boat leave from the harbour in Cavtat.

thanx a lot for the info if the road is that dangerous we will definetly prefer boat I think

With the limited parking in Dubrovnik I think it would be best to go by boat. I don%26#39;t think the roads are dangerous or scary though.

teh road is not dangerous as such. However, it is extremely high up on the side of a cliff basically and can be quite scary , especiallly on the return trip to cavtat, if you are afraid of heights.

I know I looked out of a bus window once and nearly got the fright of my life - I thought I was flying - couldn%26#39;t see any land, just water and sky.

The boat is good fun to use and you get good views as you come into the old town port. The cost of parking in Dubrovnik compares with the cost in London.

I spent most of my time on trips between Cavtat and Dubrovnik with my eyes closed , praying to any saint who cared to listen .!!

I have a fear of heights and a fear of speeding cars .......... well the road to Dubrovnik had both in abundance ! The young lads would speed up to our bumper and overtake in the bends .!!

Havung said all that I loved both Plat , Cavtat and our trips to Dubrovnik( when I opened my eyes )

but parking wasnt easy either .

take the boat , its frequent , inexpensive and relaxing .cant remember exactly how long maybe 40 mins if that , you can see dubrovnik from cavtat so it cant be that far !!

Bus is 12Kn one way and takes 30-45 minutes.

Boat is 50 Kn one way or 90 Kn return and takes 45 minutes.

I recommend doing a combination of both, get the bus from Cavtat to Dubrovnik and then the boat back.

there are lots of different boats to take you to and from dubrovnik.
