Going from Dubrovnik to Venice

I want to go from Dubrovnik to Venice on September 28th by ferry or by bus. I want to know schedules and rates.

Thank you for your help!

Did you find anything about this? My family would also like to do this although so far I can only find that you need to go to Zargreb first. any help would be appreciated.

Not sure how easy this will be. You could look into taking a ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari, but then its quite a long ways up the coast to Venice from Bari. There is a ferry that runs on the 28th though to Bari. You could also look into the Split ferry to Ancona in Italy, but again you would have to get from Ancona to Venice - which is a four hour drive.

Not sure about the bus connections. In looking it up from Dubrovnik- it doesn%26#39;t seem like there are any direct bus lines from Dubrovnik to Venice, so you might have to go to Zagreb to connect with Venice by bus or train. I think you are going to have trouble doing all of this in one day though.

The only other option is to get to a Croatian city in Istria--- Porec, Rovinj--- and take a boat from there.

if you have time the bus trip is sensational....take a few reds stop off in a couple of places and make a trip out of it.

Last time we went Dub/Trogir.....Trogir/Rovinj .then you could decide but going via Ljubjlana is a great trip and easy to Venice from there......otherwise jump the ferry in Rovinj to Venice

Thanks for your help. If they took the bus from Split instead of Dub where would you recommend a break for the night? they don%26#39;t have a lot of time, probably 2 to 3 days all up.

|||

There is daily direct bus connection from Dubrovnik to Poreč-www.autotrans.hr, for the ones who are in a hurry.

But the best would be to bus with breakes as Mausgrass suggested.

Just realized that 28.Sept. is a Sunday-there is a ferry from Dubrovnik arriving next morning at 7 am to Rijeka, from there bus to Trieste and than bus or train to Venice.

|||

this may well be a stupid question but I%26#39;m trying to look up the autotrans website. They have a departure and arrival box into which I put Split and Rijeka respectively. It keeps coming up with a sign saying enter correct names. Is there a correct name/address I%26#39;m missing?

|||

Try using only the first 3 letters of the towns, then enter and use the drop down menu.

|||

Will do Jackie. And many thanks to you all for your wonderful help and patience.

Thanks everybody for your help.I think to get more information about ferry but if it%26#39;s not possible I %26#39;ll get a bus from Duvrobnik to some place before Zagreb and then get a train or bus to Trieste.Which town do you recommend to make that stop?

By the way, i live in Montevideo (Uruguay) and I should be delighted to help any one thinking to visit us.

Abelart, pls, note that Zagreb is not on the way from Dubrovnik to Rijeka.

I heard about Montevideo, many Croats , especially from Dalmatian islands have settled there at the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century.
