We are celebrating my wifes 30th birthday on our first day in Dubrovnik, can anyone suggest some nice restaurants in the old town and what sort of food they serve, we both enjoy seafood!
Thanks

I just mentioned this place in the report on our recent trip to Dubrovnik that i just posted, but I%26#39;ll mention it again. Orhan is great. The setting is so lovely, on a little cove away from all the commotion of Old Town but still very nearby. Add to that really good and reasonably priced food and you%26#39;ve got a winning combination.
To find it, go to the big bus stop and look for stairs kind of behind and to the left of the Libertas statue thing. Follow the steps down and around to the right a bit until you come upon the little cove. Orhan (sp?) has a huge patio outside and smaller eating area inside. It is the only restaurant on the cove so you should be able to locate it. I think they get fairly busy on Fri and Sat nights, so try to make a reservation ahead of time if possible. We went on a Sunday and had no trouble getting a nice outside table.
Have fun!

nautica is probably the best(booking essential for a terrace table but be prepared for a big bill
teetal is very good super pepper steak good value good service probably does not have the ambiance of some of the harbour facing restaurants but great food
enjoy

which big bus stop is that - is it outside Pile Gate or Ploce

we liked Orphan but it might be a little quiet for a 30th birthday meal.
we loved Arsenal overlooking the old port.
wonderful seafood and if you get a table on the edge (you could ask to reserve one), a perfect spot for watching the boats and people go by.
It has lovely comfy chairs and the tables aren%26#39;t too close together.
The waiters were lovely too.
we went back twice in a week and had a 2 course meal with wine for just under £50.
after the meal there is a huge bar inside with live music, if you wanted something more lively.

Nautica is famous for sea food as well as Proto within the walls. I would, however, go to Gil%26#39;s! More of a haute cuisine experience but really nice

Gil%26#39;s is absolutely fabulous! The location and setting within the walls of the old town, but with hip contemporary furniture and decoration makes this a very special place. There are several levels with cozy corners on the lower level, and two terraces with magnificent seaviews. We saw a stunning sunset there a few days ago. So romantic!!
The food is contemporary, beautifully served. The staff charmingly nice. We spent a memorable evening there.

Give Nautica a wide berth, overpriced rubbish in my opinion.

Defo Gils for your wifes 30th, its very romantic/sexy,great food and service, and stunning inside and out,you can eat then sit upstairs in the open bar and watch the sun go down.

Sesame doesnt have the view some of the others have, but it has a nie ambiance in its own way (garden terrace setting), is right across from the Hilton Imperial, and has wonderful food. If not for the %26quot;big%26quot; night, try to get there some other time.
