I plan to take my 83 yr old mother to Dubrovnik in October but do not know where to stay. She walks slowly and a bit unsteadily. She likes being by the sea, walking a little then sitting then walking again and so on. If we stay in the Lapad Peninsula we would need to be near a bus stop and pleasant walkways and in a hotel with not too many steps.
Then I wondered about the Hilton as is nearer the town but wondered if the bus from Lapad Peninsula would drop you nearer to the old city. The walk from The Hilton might be a bit too far? And I,m not sure if you could sit by the sea and look at the view so easily from The Hilton. Also it is a bit beyond our budget!
Any ideas?
Thank you

The Hilton Hotel that is just outside the Pile Gate - about a three minute walk. The bus from the Lapad area stops just outside the Pile gate - when you go in, there are about 20 steps that you must walk down to get into the old town. It can get pretty hot inside the old town but here are lovely little cool alleyways that you can meander through. Before you actuall enter the old town there is a lovely view of the sea but again its a climb down.
Why not decide to stay at Cavtat - this is a small village 15 km from Dubrovnik - its a real gem. There are hotels right by the sea and it would suit you mam down to the ground. If you have not already booked then I would suggest you look into it. It may be a lot more suitable.
Also the Lapad area is lovely, some of the area is right at the harbour (check out Hotel Lapad) and some is up away from the water and it might take a walk to get to the water. There are buses into town from Lapad, but from Lapad hotel you must walk for about 5 minutes to the bus stop going into town. On the way back from town it stops at the hotel door.

Just remembered, going into the old town there is also a wheelchair access pathway if you have trouble going down the steps.

Hello Kate94,
My husband and I are taking my Mom -who is of the same age than yours and in just about the same %26quot;conditions%26quot; than yours re:walking, resting, having problems with her legs, etc.- to Dubrovnik too! I am also taking a walking stick with us, you know the type used for Nordic Walking!
We are going next week, so if there%26#39;s any thing you would like for me to look for in particular, I would be happy to do so. Just send me a PM.
Good luck finding accommodation. I know I spend days trying to find a place with not too many stairs, and not too far from the bus stop etc.! We opted for an apartment vs rooms in a hotel.
