We will be renting a car at Marco Polo Airport and traveling to Opatija in September. Does any one know the best route to go and how long it takes?

Follow green colored Trieste highway/autostrade directions.The toll is about 7 euros.At the very highway end (above Trieste) go for HR/Rijeka/Fiume signs.
10miles before Opatija there is a small highway strip that costs 0.70 euros.
Trip takes 202 minutes.
If offered,DO NOT buy 35eur Slovenia Toll sticker.You will not need it.
Low beam lights are mandatory 24/7 in both Slovenia %26amp; Croatia.

thank you for all the information. It%26#39;s very helpful!

Hi Kefa, I thought the law about lights during daylight had changed again, or did I imagine reading it?
|||
Balkan you are right, during the summer count of time the lights during the day are not obligatory.

Balkan,although declared addict this time your mind %26amp; vision were not purple hazed or blurred.The law was revised and not mandatory daytime during the summer.
And Jelsa,hit the head at the nail too.
Cheaply trying to weasel myself out of it I would say that safety wise keeping lights on is not a bad thing.To be seen is always important.(and they still have to be on in Slovenia...for that tiny 18 mile strip)
