I was thinking of ideas for a 4 1/2 day trip (from London) and Croatia came to my mind because of the amazing comments I%26#39;ve always heard about it but not too sure if it%26#39;d be by far too short the time for the trip?
We%26#39;re hoping to go to a coastal town/city and hopefully if the weather allows get a bit of beach relaxation/good food outdoors, etc. The idea is to relax and wouldn%26#39;t mind being in the same town all 4 days.
We would be leaving London on 18th sept in the afternoon (thursday) and coming back on 22nd sept (monday) in the evening. These dates unfortunately are unchangeable as we have already booked the time off work and we%26#39;ve got to be back at work on tue morning! :(
Any ideas will be more than welcome! Thanks ever so much in advance!

Yikes - that really is short! However, we are not here to chastise you. Croaia is spectacular, especially in Autumn. Still warm enough for swimming if you desire.
My favourite part of Croatia is Istria so I would highly recommend the gorgeous town of Rovinj in which to base. It also has wonderful food. Daytrips are possible from there as well.
Dubrovnik is a must see place - you could easily stay there for your entire time. From there you could go to various close islands. It is pure joy to wander the streets (except millions of others feel the same way). However busy it is (and it still is very busy that time of the year) you can still really enjoy it. Make sure to walk around the old town walls for orientation and great vantage points.

Hey thanks ever so much for your super quick reply!
I%26#39;ll see if I can find affordable flights for those dates to Dubrovnik which sounds lovely and take it from there....
cheers again
