Visiting Croatia in Jan 2009

We are visiting Croatia in Jan 2009 arriving in Zagred by train from Budapest. Want to see Crotia in 7 days ending up in Dubrovnik. Thought Islands would be too cold - need any advise re what to see and where to go. Any input would be appreciated.

I went to Hvar in January 2007 and it was warm enough during the day for a T-shirt. Hvar does boast about it%26#39;s fantastic weather. In fact if it is sunny and you get a sheltered spot it%26#39;s great. So far as I remember we sat on top of the ferry to Hvar, in the open air, so that must have been a nice day too.

Somewhere like Krka national park is amazing in the winter because the waterfalls are so full, I%26#39;ve done that too.

How will you get through Croatia - on public transport? If so, the transport will be there but less of it than in the season.

Croatia tourist destinations can be very shut down straight after the New Year as well - it was quite difficult to find restaurants open if you went away from the main places in Trogir and Hvar Town only had about 3 open in total.
