Craft market

Hi

Going to Croatia in May 09 and definatly Korcula. Unfortunately I can only stay 1-2 nights on the island so I need to plan my time well.

Are there markets and will I find it easy to find some trinkets or crafts to bring back? I don%26#39;t want touristy stuff if i can help it.

My Grandfather%26#39;s family left Kortula to come out to NZ (1938) and so my family are so excited and asked me to bring back something from Kortula.

Thanks for your help.

There are a couple of stalls on the market during the season that sell croatian crafts including one that sell items made from Korcula stone. Hopefully they will be in place in May but some stalls do not start until later - around June.

Have a good trip !

I%26#39;m just back today and did not find much in the main market area. I did however find a lovely old gentleman hand carving lime stone in his little shop next to the enetrance to the entrance to the %26#39;Brotherhood Church%26#39; [If you go round the seaward side walk it is a few alleys along from the eastern hardbour end] This was the only genuine crafts I could find. prices started at about 50kuna for small articals. I bought a 10cm hand carved crucifix for 80 Kuna. You will require every minute of you two night just to try %26amp; take in the town, it is trully an amazing place.

Thank you so much for both of your posts.

I am definitely keen to find the guy with the stone carvings.

Yes I do wish I could spend more time there. Maybe next time....
