We (me, husband and 9 year old) have a day to fill in - Zagreb, mid October. We will have done a preliminary city tour the day before, but I would like to weigh up the options of taking a tour out of the city (eg Plitvice) with spending time exploring the town itself at a more leisurely pace. Any idea are very welcome.

Outside: Plitvice, Castles Trakošćan or Miljana etc

Plitvice Lakes or Varazdin are best places for a day trip from Zagreb.
