Island Day Trips from Dubrovnik

We have 5 days in Dubrovnik next year and I wanted to know if Hvar or Korcula was a better choice for a day trip? We have Mostar, Kotor and some other places booked to drive to but want to have a good island trip one day. Any suggestions?

Definitely Korcula just because it will be very hard to get to Hvar on a day trip. Korcula will be pretty easy to get to.

Korcula will be easier to get to, as the previous poster has said. It is a beautiful town and island. So is Hvar, and it would be a shame for you not to see both of them. I would much rather go on two day trips to the islands and see either Mostar or Kotor. The islands offer a totally different atmosphere and vista. If you go to Hvar, try to find a way (rent a car, moped, etc.) to get to one of the highest points on the island. The 360 degree vista is an absolutely awesome experience--you won%26#39;t forget it!!

Kotor is nice, but isn%26#39;t that different from the other towns you will see in along the coast. However, Mostar is a must see-

Have a great time!

Whilst not on your list another alternative island is Mjilet.

Korcula Town is beautiful and you will have a great day. It is though a bit similar to Dubvrovnik wheras Mjilet is a national park and offers something completely different.

The great thing with Dubrovnik it is almost impossible to pick a bad place to visit!

for the major islands, as said above, you really can only look at Mljet, Korcula, and some of the others closer. Hvar is way too far to be a day trip. Also, a nice half-day trip, especially if you want to swim, would be to just go out to Lokrum. It is a 15 minute ride from the harbor and is a great, relaxing destination. Not much to do other than walk and swim, but there is a decent restaurant at the old monastery.
