What has happened to Croatia recently? Its been three years since we last went, and what a difference. From the time we stepped off the plane at Pula airport and the Taxi sharks asked us 150 kuna (£15 +) for a ten minute taxi ride to Pula bus station. We declined and held out for 120 kuna which was bad enough. They then tried to pressure us into taking their taxi direct to opatija for another 90 Euro (£71), when we knew we could catch the Autotrans bus for £15. Then several restaurants in opatija have introduced a %26quot;Cover charge%26quot;, whereby they bring you a fish on a saucer that you neither ordered or wanted and again try to charge extra. We were then overcharged for ice cream. Another taxi gave us a price from Rijeka to opatija and then tried to double it by later saying %26quot;each%26quot;. Add to that the nuisance of %26quot;disco seven%26quot; situated right in the middle of town, with young people mainly sitting outside shouting and laughing till 6 o%26#39;clock in the morning and what should have been a lovely experience is entirely ruined. It will be a long time till we return to a Country I have loved for over 35 years.
I%26#39;d be interested to know if other forum members have had more positive experiences in Croatia recently?
