Hi
My husband and I are wanting to visit Croatia early September 2009.
I am thinking of trying to organise this myself as i can%26#39;t find the package holiday that fits what we are after.
We definately want to spend a few days in Dubrovnik and combine this with 7 days elsewhere and this is where I need your help.
We want somewhere that is on the coast to relax with plenty of choice of bars and restaurants in the evening. We are in our early 30%26#39;s and not after nightclubs etc but somewhere with a bit of life. We were thinking of Porec but it seems quite a way away from Dubrovnik and quite a hassle to get too.
Does anyone have any suggestions for other resorts that are nearer and easier to get to?
Thanks in advance

How about Hvar, Trogir or Makarska?

If we were to just base ourselves in a resort for 7 days where would you recommend so that we could still day trip to Dubrovnik?
Thanks

I really think you should spend at least a couple of days in Dubrovnik. But if not, maybe you should look at spending your time in a resort along the Makarska Riviera, which will get you close enough to take a day trip to Dubrovnik.

The only major island that you could stay on and still day trip to Dubrvonik would be Korcula. But I would sigest 2 days in Dubrovnik and then move to a resort on whatever island, or section of the mainland that appeals toyou most. Look at Vis, Hvar, Korcula, and Brac (islands), or the Makraska Riviera (mainland).

When I visited the area I used Atlas Travel web site address http://www.atlas-croatia.com/en/ who helped me with accommodation and ferries and found the office in Split were extremely helpful and would certainly use them again.
I did a three center holiday arrived in Split spent the first night and then took a ferry to Hvar and then returned to Split and drove down to Dubrovnik.
The island ferries are Jadrolinija see http://www.jadrolinija.hr/ for reference the ferry leaves Hvar early morning for Split and the port is next to the town center.
