Planning a trip to Croatia May 2009 -- two families. Four children under the age of 5. We are hoping to find a 4 bedroom villa on the beach or very close. I believe from Paris we will fly into Dubrovnik. Looking for recommendations on areas/cities/beach and villa rentals. Thanks so much. Texans in Paris.

depending on the level of luxury required, you may get disappointed. Close to the beach, very few properties that can be described as villas can be found. I was, just recently, looking into some properties for my parents%26#39; US friends and they decided to go to Korcula instead of Dubrovnik. They were looking for privacy and we had a hard time finding something that was in line with their request. If interested in this property, being a further away from Dubrovnik, contact me on PM.

I just got back from Dubrovnik, we were staying in the next bay along - Zaton. I probably wouldn%26#39;t recommend the actual place we were staying for children, but further along in Zaton Mali and Zaton Veliki there were loads of fairly large houses on the sea front that said they were for holiday rental. It was about 6km North of Dubrovnik, with a bus service to the city. I%26#39;m not sure if the places are on the internet, but there was a tourist office in Zaton Veliki.

You would be able to find any number of villas on some of the islands such as Vis, Brac, Hvar, etc. Dubrovnik is worth seeing, but if you are looking for a beach vacation, than I would look at one of the islands.

hi be careful where you book as well - make sure you do some researches on the beaches nearby - in some places the beach will only consist of ladders down to deep water - so you will need to ensure that the beach is the one that you want before you book. some people just take it for granted there will be sandy beaches all over - and in some cases there is not. Just something to think about when you are booking.
