A day in split (on a med cruise)

hope this small comment helps somebody!

When you get a med cruise for a day in Split you get off the tender and just as you walk towards the town there is a desk with people selling a sightseeing

tour. Take this up it was well worth it. Much cheaper than anything on the ship. On the bus there is a sightseeing guide for 3/4 of an hour followed by a walking tour of the palace. Lots of local information and very interesting. Split was a lovely place to go would recommend it highly - even if it was just for a day.

we are stopping there for our med cruise. is everything near the port and therefore walkable? i was thinking public transportation which seems cheap. at least be a local a bit. did you have to go get dollar exchanged in ship?

The Palace is within (5 minutes) walking distance from the port and very compact for walking. Unless you are very interested in every historical and architectural detail (which you can read in any guide book), just do your own thing. The Palace is is easy to maneuver, and - in my opinion - more fun to experience on your own than in a tour group. Don%26#39;t miss sitting and having a cappucino in the Forum (outside of the Palace Walls, in the 9%26#39;oclock position) and watch the world go by. Geat fun.

Sorry, don%26#39;t know if this is too late but you will need euros or kunas in split. In the centre they seem to accept both. We took £100 worth of kuna with us for too croatia stops - it was enough. I still stand by by take the tour option as it will take you further and higher than your own feet but yes you can see the palace by foot easily and some of the town.
