Cravats and ties are popular, few people realise that the necktie, the uniform of business men, has its origins in Croatia.

Oh, and don%26#39;t forget the food, wine and spirits for research purposes of course!

Although I am not a knick-knack person I had to bring home one of the little stone Istrian huts. They are not tacky, though - very unique and interesting. Also jars of truffles and truffle paste.

Wherever I go in Europe I bring back a cookbook - I like to try to replicate recipes to re-live trips at home. Same with books on that particular country - we bring back home 3-5 per trip.

We bought a wooden bowl that we%26#39;ve put on our coffee table. But I must say, the most precious are the memories and photographs!

We also bought pear liquer in Trogir for my stepdad, but I can%26#39;t remember what its%26#39; called.

Hand made table runners/cloth in Dubrovnik for our mothers which they love and regret not buying one for myself!

The cookbook idea is a good one. We also bought truffle paste, but have not used it yet!

If I lived far away from Croatia, I would ask somebody traveling there to bring me olive oil,red wine bought in the villages, lavendel oil,home made cheese..
