Old town to beach

We%26#39;re going to be staying within the old town for a week at the beginning of October and wondered (weather permitting) which is the best beach to visit. Would we be best to travel out to the Lapad area or are there any nearer to town?

Thanks.

Lapad is IMO the best. We had been to a few beaches in Dubrovnik, and the rocks cut you up like knives if you are not used to it. Lapad is a nice sandy beach, and it%26#39;s huge so you will get your own spot.

But before you go there you could try Banje Beach, located in the old town below the luxurious Excelsior Hotel. I remember liking that one too.

If you want to go a ways out of the Old Town, then the beach on Lopud would be a good choice. I would also say that Banje Beach is a great place to spend some time and as already stated it is very near to the Old Town. That would be my first choice in Dubrovnik.

My first choice would be Lokrum, right in the harbor. It is a 15 minute ferry ride and is a nice isolated island. There arent beaches but rather rocks to swim off of, but it is a great spot and very easy to swim from.

Thanks very much for all your helpful suggestions.

the %26#39;private%26#39; beach below the bellevue hotel is pretty nice. it is primarily for hotel guests but others can go. it is closer (15 min walk) to the old town that lapad. there is also a perfectly nice town beach very close to dubrovnik old town. cant remember the name but it has the eastwest bar on it

Banje Beach has the East West Club.

We went to all the beaches while we were in Dubrovnik and the beach mentioned behind the Bellevue hotel is the best by far. It is only private directly in front of the hotel and the rest is public. You can reach it by walking to the left of the Casino downs the stairs.

Also the food is excellent at the Bellevue resturant overlooking the bay. It is walkable from old town especially coming back, but the bus stop is just down the street. I believe it is # 4. Have fun
