dubrovnik

can I rent a english speacking driver and car for 7 hours in dubrovnik Oct 24th. I am disabled and do not want to do the cruise tours as there is a lot of walking. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Valerie

Valerie, I%26#39;m replying to both of your postings. The old towns of both Dubrovnik and Korcula are strictly pedestrian zones. That of Dubrovnik is is flat, so you could use a wheel chair. There is a major highway outside of the old town, going up the hill toward Kotor which gives you nice views of the city. You can take a taxi from the new port to that area. Many Croatians speak English; don%26#39;t know how you can arrange for an English speaking driver, but you may just luck out. Also, check the Dubrovnik tourist info. office.

The old town of Korcula is very compact, but also quite hilly. Other than visiting other parts of the island (which I did not do), there are no ways to see Korcula by car, and using a wheel chair is also pretty impossible.

Which cruise ship will you be on? If it is the Monet, I found the staff very helpful in arranging excursions other than those includede in the program.

I%26#39;m just back last week %26amp; I did notice two people with motorised wheel chairs in Korcula who appeared to be visitors. Don%26#39;t know if tourist information could help as to where you might hire them. Both towns are wonderful but unfortunatly not made for the less able.
